Republican National Committee And The Republican Party Of Wisconsin Announce D2H Victory Campaign
WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced Wisconsin’s D2H Victory campaign to establish the grassroots political operation to ensure Republican candidates are successful in November. In partnership with the Republican Party of Wisconsin (RPW), the RNC is providing funding and resources to build the in-state GOP structure to support Republican leaders.
The RNC will devote the resources necessary to enhance the RPW’s ability to effectively reach Republican voters and tap into the state’s grassroots volunteer base. This investment in Republican state parties is a critical part of the RNC’s Delaware to Hawaii (“D2H”) strategy to compete aggressively in all fifty states.
“In a coordinated effort to fire Feingold and take back the governor’s mansion, the RNC is excited to be partnering with the RPW to win both of these important races in November,” said RNC Chairman Michael Steele. “The accomplishments of the Republican Party start with the energized volunteers who go door-to-door, make phone calls, attend events, and reach out to Republican voters in their own communities and neighborhoods. Republicans in Wisconsin are sending a clear message to Russ Feingold and Democrats across the state that it’s time to change the tax, borrow and spend policies of President Obama that are killing our economy and pushing our children and grandchildren further into debt.”
Wisconsin Republicans continued to pace the nation for grassroots efforts, with more than 100,000 individual voter contacts in a single day this past Saturday, topping all other states in the country. With every day that passes, Wisconsin becomes more and more of a battleground state and Republicans are working to make sure the battle is won on November 2nd.
“I would like to thank Chairman Steele for providing the RPW with these vital resources as we inch closer toward November. The resources are further proof that Chairman Steele and the RNC are invested heavily in Ron Johnson, Scott Walker and every Republican candidate across the state this November,” said Reince Priebus, Chairman of the RPW. “This sophisticated political operation will help capture the overwhelming support Republicans are seeing day-in and day-out and harness the displeasure of the big government agenda of Democrats across the state and in Washington. Wisconsinites couldn’t be more energized and ready to fight for Wisconsin and I am excited to be a part of it.”
In 2009, Republicans made 5.8 million voter contacts and put in 165,715 volunteer hours, resulting in victories across the country. In total, last year Republicans won 26 of 37 special elections and played a major role in more than 30 successful races. The RNC is building on this success with strategic investments in key states and districts that will help deliver Republican victories in November.
You Can't Spend What You Don't Have
It's been over a month since the beginning of the fiscal year and California still doesn't have a budget. As the prospect for passing a sensible budget before the end of the year continues to vanish, Sacramento Democrats refuse to include the pension reform that this state so desperately needs. If you aren't rankled by <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/02/bell-pensions-to-be-paid-_n_667292.html">bloated bureaucratic salaries</a> and state pensions large enough to rival that of the NFL's compensation packages, then I guess we all should turn our heads the other way and continue to accept the unacceptable.<br /><br />California can't afford the reckless spending that has plagued our economy for decades, and this time the unions will have to give. Working families can't afford the suggested tax increases, and borrowing more money when California's credit rating is already in the tank, doesn't make much sense either. Why can't the Democrat controlled legislature understand that its citizenry has already been taxed to the point of exhaustion? Apparently it must not matter to them. They just don't get that you can't spend what you don't have.<br /><br />The union grip over the capitol is greater than I had imagined - union cronies will stop at nothing to prove you wrong and attempt to squeeze blood out of a turnip by refusing to compromise. I'm not sure I understand how anyone can be exempt from tightening their belts. Most sensible Californian's have already made the necessary adjustments to their spending habits, but I fear that this is just the quiet before the storm - eventually, no matter how much you prepare, the next round of taxes increases will push you and other hard working tax-paying families to the brink of extinction.<br /><br />The union stall on the budget process reminds me of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76Mt9g2bhvw&feature=player_embedded">this scene</a> from the movie <span style="font-style:italic;">Click</span>, where Adam Sandler tries to convince David Hasslehoff to give him a raise, because he "spent money [he doesn't] have."<br /><br />Coming up with a sensible budget is no easy task (it should be but unions are involved)but not having a budget this late is outrageous. The common sense solution that most Californians are looking for is simple -- pension reform. I for one am tired of the Democrat knee-jerk reaction to tax and spend. We deserve better than that.<br /><br /><span style="font-style:italic;">you can reach Micah @ mgrant@cagop.org.</span><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4415342305243133312-5392023175330448802?l=blog.cagop.org' alt='' /></div>
Statement From RNC Chairman Michael Steele On The Arizona Primaries
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today:
“Congratulations to Governor Jan Brewer, Senator John McCain and all the Republicans who won their primary contests tonight. Both of these individuals understand the importance of securing our border, and our nation needs more strong leaders like them to stand up to this Administration’s reckless agenda. The Republican Party stands united behind all Republicans in Arizona and we will continue to assist them to ensure they are victorious in November.”
Statement From RNC Chairman Michael Steele On The Vermont Primaries
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement this evening:
“Tonight, Vermont voters sent a clear message that they want candidates on the ballot who are laser focused on growing Vermont’s economy and creating jobs. And this evening, they did just that by nominating Republicans that are committed to smaller government, lower taxes, and job creation. The Republican Party is excited to have a core group of strong candidates led by Brian Dubie who will stand up to the big government, tax-and-spend agenda in Montpelier and Washington, D.C.
“While the reckless economic policies of Washington, D.C. have pushed the nation’s unemployment rate to 9.5%, under Republican Governor Jim Douglas, Vermont’s state unemployment rate is among the lowest in the country. It is clear that Brian Dubie is the best candidate to continue Vermont on a strong path forward. In November, the people of Vermont will elect Republicans offering common sense solutions to create jobs and improve the economy.”
Statement From RNC Chairman Michael Steele On The Florida Primaries
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today following the Florida primary results:
“I want to congratulate Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and all the Republican nominees who won their primaries this evening.
“Marco Rubio is a principled candidate whose commitment to limited government and fiscal restraint will serve as a much needed check and balance to the Democrats’ reckless spending. Rubio is the only candidate in the Florida Senate race Floridians can trust to stand up to the big-government agenda that the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Democrat leadership continues to try to ram through Congress.
“Rick Scott is a strong conservative candidate for Governor, who will no doubt be victorious against liberal Democrat Alex Sink, who has supported President Obama in everything from his government takeover of health care to his failed $862 billion stimulus. I’m confident that Floridians will rally behind all of our Republican nominees, and that we will see many GOP victories throughout the entire state of Florida in November.”
