STATEMENT FROM RNC CHAIRMAN MICHAEL STEELE ON JULY UNEMPLOYMENT NUMBERS
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today:
“Unemployment remaining unchanged at 9.5 percent and the loss of over 130,000 jobs once again confirms that President Obama’s economic policies have failed to create sustainable job growth. For the millions of Americans who are unable to find work, this White House’s empty cheerleading rings hollow. President Obama has been more focused on growing government than growing jobs, and it shows. The cumulative effect of his $2.5 trillion health care takeover, his overreaching financial regulatory bill, and his looming small business tax hike has created a climate of uncertainty that has left employers unable to expand their payrolls. If persistently high unemployment, crushing debt, and a continued assault on the private economy is the ‘recovery’ President Obama is welcoming the American people to, Congressional Democrats will be the ones getting a pink slip in November.”

REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF TEXAS ANNOUNCE D2H VICTORY CAMPAIGN
WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced Texas’ D2H Victory campaign to provide strategic political resources to Texan Republican candidates and help them win in November. In partnership with the Republican Party of Texas, the RNC will build the in-state campaign structure to support Republican leaders with funding for staff and offices, as well as access to the RNC’s vast database of voter information.
By enhancing the Texas GOP’s ability to effectively reach Republican voters and tap into the state’s grassroots volunteer base, Republican candidates across the state will benefit from increased energy during the campaign and turnout in November. This investment in Republican state parties is a critical part of the RNC’s Delaware to Hawaii strategy to compete aggressively in all fifty states.
“Governor Perry is leading a strong Republican ticket in Texas and the RNC is excited to be partnering with the state Republican Party to help energize and grow our strong base of grassroots support,” said RNC Chairman Michael Steele. “The RNC is giving Texas the tools to reach Republican voters all across state and make sure Texans have the resources to pick up Republican seats in November. Although many Texas Democrats have been running away from Barack Obama when he comes to their state, they won’t be able to separate themselves from his disastrous economic policies that will force our children and grandchildren to foot the bill for this administration’s reckless spending.”
“The RNC’s support will help lay the political foundation to make sure Republican voters have opportunities to volunteer on campaigns and help get-out-the-vote in November,” said Steve Munisteri, Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. “Governor Perry is energizing voters all across the state and the Texas Republican Party is already actively engaging Republicans through phone calls, door knocking, campaign rallies, and victory events. The resources that the RNC is providing will be a tremendous asset as we tap into the energy of the Republican Party in Texas.”
In 2009, Republicans made 5.8 million voter contacts and put in 165,715 volunteer hours, resulting in victories across the country. In total, last year Republicans won 26 of 37 special elections and played a major role in more than 30 successful races. The RNC is building on this success with strategic investments in key states and districts that will help deliver Republican victories in November. In cooperation with the RNC, the Republican Party of Texas has already opened 5 victory offices across the state in Fort Worth, Waco, Bryan-College Station, San Antonio North, and San Antonio South. Each office is equipped with VOIP phones and door knocking maps. For more information about office locations and hours, please visit: www.VictoryTexas.org.

Statement From RNC Chairman Michael Steele on Missouri’s Rejection of Obamacare
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today in response to the passage of Proposition C in Missouri, which protects an individual's right to make their own health care choices.
“In a significant blow to the Obama administration, the people of Missouri overwhelmingly struck down a central pillar of ObamaCare by passing a statute that prevents the federal government from requiring individuals to purchase health insurance. By rejecting ObamaCare with nearly three-quarters of the vote in a critical swing state, Missouri sent a clear message to Democrats and the Obama administration that government-run healthcare is a gross overreach of the federal government that needs to be repealed and replaced. In addition to voter disapproval, lawsuits across the country are moving forward and this week, Virginia earned a major legal victory in its effort to challenge the constitutionality of the government’s individual mandate.
“Democrats experienced a backlash against ObamaCare at town hall events across the country a year ago, and despite clear opposition from the American people, they forced through their government takeover with backroom deals and midnight amendments. Last night’s decisive vote against a key provision of ObamaCare, arguably the cornerstone of the Obama presidency, shows how completely detached the Democrat agenda is from the American electorate, and is another reason why Republicans will win back the majority in November.”

Republican National Committee and the Indiana Republican Party Announce D2H Victory Campaign
WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced Indiana’s D2H Victory campaign to establish the grassroots political operation to ensure Republican candidates are successful in November. In partnership with The Indiana Republican Party (IN GOP), the RNC is providing funding and resources to build the infrastructure to support Republican candidates.
The RNC will devote the resources necessary to enhance the IN GOP’s ability to effectively reach Republican voters and tap into the state’s grassroots volunteer base. This investment in Republican state parties is a critical part of the RNC’s Delaware to Hawaii (“D2H”) strategy to compete aggressively in all fifty states.
“The liberal lineup of Brad Ellsworth, Joe Donnelly, Baron Hill and Trent Van Haaften reads as more of a who’s-who of President Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s most trusted lap-dogs and the RNC is excited to be partnering with the IN GOP to turn these seats red,” said RNC Chairman Michael Steele. “The accomplishments of the Republican Party start with energized Hoosiers who go door-to-door, make phone calls, attend events, and reach out to Republican voters in their own communities and neighborhoods. Republicans across the great state of Indiana are sending a clear message to Ellsworth, Donnelly, Hill, Van Haaften and Indiana Democrats that it’s time to change the tax, borrow and spend policies of President Obama that are killing our economy.”
“We are thrilled that Chairman Steele and the RNC are investing in Indiana with these vital resources as we move closer to election day. These efforts and the hard work of countless volunteers from now through November will boost Sen. Coats and our Republican candidates across the state,” said Murray Clark, Chairman of the IN GOP. “This cutting-edge political operation will help capture the overwhelming support Republicans are seeing day-in and day-out. It will also harness the displeasure Hoosiers are voicing with the Obama-Ellsworth big government agenda of Democrats in Washington and turn that dissent into votes for Republican candidates who will get our economy and country back on the right track. ”

STATEMENT FROM RNC CHAIRMAN MICHAEL STEELE ON THE MISSOURI PRIMARIES
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement on the Missouri primary election results today:
“Congratulations to Congressman Roy Blunt and all the Republican candidates who won their primary election this evening. The people of Missouri are roundly rejecting the liberal agenda of Democrats in Washington, and Republicans are ready to stand up against the big-spending policies of the Obama Administration that are being forced through Congress against the will of the people.
“Congressman Roy Blunt heads a strong slate of Republican candidates who will stop the out of control spending and unchecked growth of government under Democrat leadership. With unemployment stuck at 9.5 percent and a skyrocketing deficit, Missouri can’t afford politicians who will simply rubberstamp Barack Obama’s dangerous economic policies. Missouri voters will send a clear message to the White House in November that the Obama agenda is bad for the economy and it’s time to change course.”
